World of Warcraft things.

This is where I post all my WoW things, whether it's personal screenshots, achievements, news, or anything else relevant.
Everything is mine unless there's credit.
My boyfriend and I play Horde on Area 52-US. If you're on my server, let me know!

So apparently last tuesday I broke 1000 followers. (Shows how often I check this blog.) Pretty cool I guess?

Anyway, thanks guys and I love you all and I promise I will start posting again after November 13th. Or possibly after the pre-patch. (Probably complaining about how much I hate mages now.) We’ll see.

nemox42 asked: Sorry got distracted, anyways, I just transferred to Area 52 from Drak'Thul after a recommendation from a friend. I was totally unhappy on DT, the people weren't friendly, nobody wanted to really commit to raids and I am not down for that. So I did the /gquit and paid $25 to move over and as soon as I got there I was soooooooooo happy! That night I downed Garrosh and finally killed the other bosses I was missing. I still don't have a guild but I am perusing my options. :)

Answer:

Hey there, welcome! Congrats on the boss kills! Unfortunately Area 52 (including my guild) is suffering from end of expansion apathy just like every other server, ha. There’s still plenty of people around, just no one really takes it seriously anymore. So you might still have some issues finding 9 other committed people. But it’ll be great once WoD hits, if you can stand the queues!

Can I just… what?
I normally try to avoid negative commentary, but this really pisses me off. Non-frost mages (and even frost, to some extent depending on the situation, specifically if the mob is immune to roots/slows) are literally the squishiest classes for soloing.
Conjure Food??? Are you fucking kidding me? Do you even play this game? Do you have any idea how eating works? And I don’t even want to talk about them trying to get rid of instant-cast spells. Tell me again how I’m supposed to survive against a mob that I can’t use CC on, while I can either kite and do nothing or stand there and cast while getting two-shot from white hits? Tell me again which glyphs and talents allow me to heal myself in combat, especially after the removal of healing from the level 90 talents?
Conjure Food………………. smh.
Oh, but wait, we also have Flameglow, which in MoP saves me from a whopping 5k damage on every hit. Oh boy.

I’ve gotta disagree. Temporal Shield/Ice Barrier should be up for reduced damage, if they get close, Ice nova and blink away. They still catch up? If you’re Arcane, you should have the Slow glyph so the mob is insanely sluggish. Fire? You can run and cast with Scorch and if you get the double crit, Pyroblast! that mofo.
Now if you’re talking about soloing old raid content? Yeah I agree 100%. I can’t solo any of that shit since there are no heals available to us Mages and Ice Barrier/Temporal Shield won’t stay up for long.

Whoops I accidentally reblogged this to my personal blog… anyway…
The main point I was trying to make is that Conjure Food isn’t going to save me during a fight. Conjure Food, in my opinion, does not count as a defensive ability. If I’m about to die in the middle of combat, I can’t just say, “Hey bro, can you hold off a sec? I need to sit down and eat for 30 seconds.”
I’m aware that mages have always been considered the “glass cannon” class. That’s fine. We do do nice burst damage, albeit somewhat unreliably. I think I’m fairly good at playing a frost mage in a raid setting, and I die much less often than other people in my group, by far. Ice Barrier is great, I use it all the time! But Conjure Food has not once saved me during an encounter. It is not a defensive ability.
Don’t get me started on soloing old content, haha. Iceblock and Cauterize only delay the inevitable, although in WoD Iceblock is getting a nice heal added, which is great. Invisibility just makes the stuff reset, sooo that’s not really an option either. Even a small heal like the glyphed Evocation is better than nothing.

Raid Awareness is a Learned and Practiced Skill →

This was posted in January so I’m probably a little late to the party here, but I just read this for the first time, and holy cow it is the best WoW article I’ve ever read. I have said all of these things to people in our raid group (including myself) a million times.

It’s a little bit of a read but 100% worth it if you raid.

Funny story. I’m pretty much taking a break until Warlords, but I hop in the raid group when someone doesn’t show up. They’d done about 40 pulls on heroic Spoils over the last three weeks. I came in tonight, and after 5 wipes, we killed it!
I like to think it’s because I’m so awesome that they finally got the kill. But probably not.

Gear Changes in Patch 5.4.8 →

Welp, I was taking a little break from raiding until Warlords release (or at least 6.0) but I guess that won’t be happening. Sigh. Or maybe I’ll just say screw it because doing nothing but spamming heroic scenarios and dungeons is not my idea of fun.
